Job Description:

The Visualization Lab 3D Modeler will assist the Visualization Engineer in the efforts for the development, operation, and management of high-performance visualization teaching and research labs and classrooms. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and integrating 3D visual assets for multi-discipline educational experiences and applications. This position will generate, and work with students to generate, 3D models, animations, textures, and other visual content for educational experiences.

Responsibilities

1. Development and modify educational visualization assets.

• Generate 3D models, animations, and other visual content for interactive educational curricula.
• Modify available 3D models, animations, or other visual assets to suit development demands.
• Curate a library of 3D assets, textures, animations, and other visual components.

2. Support integration of visualization assets into educational curricula.

• Work with faculty to develop curricula that utilize visualization techniques into current and future academic disciplines.
• Integrate 3D and other visual assets into educational experiences in development.

3. Support the Visualization Lab in campus engagement and promotion activities.

• Train faculty, staff, and students in the use of software and hardware resources in the visualization labs
• Supervise students' projects and internships related to visualization.
• Facilitate professional development workshops related to visualization.

4. Other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• BS or BA degree in Computer Animation, Modeling or related field
• Experience developing experiences for VR, AR and MR.
• Competency in:
  • 3D modeling development and retopology software such as Blender, 3DS Max, or Maya
  • 3D animation for characters or other interactive elements

• Experience with photogrammetry software such as Pix 4D, Meshroom, or Reality Capture
• Ability to facilitate professional development workshops in multimedia applications, 3D modeling, and/or other visualization systems.
• Evidence of demonstrated ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industrial experience
• Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
• Instructional course development
• Experience with motion capture software and technology
• Experience with narrative development, scriptwriting, and dialog
• Experience writing and servicing state, federal and industrial visualization grants and projects
• Front-End UX design for mobile Extended Reality applications
• Experience with revision control systems such as Git or Plastic SCM
