The Title IX/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator reports to the Vice President of Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, and Compliance. They are responsible for assisting in the coordination of The New Schoolâ™s (TNS) compliance with Title IX/EEO allegations involving faculty and staff. The Title IX/EO Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations and managing complaints of discrimination/harassment through both informal conflict resolution and formal investigations. The Title IX/EEO Investigator partners with key designees throughout the investigative process, conducting legally appropriate investigations, meeting established timelines, and treating all constituents with sensitivity and respect. This position is also responsible for working collaboratively with other areas of the university in implementing and coordinating the recommendations and outcomes of the investigations. The Title IX/EEO investigator will stay abreast of new legal, policy, and best practice developments, and recommend changes to The New Schoolâ™s policies.
Adherence to confidentiality is critical. This is a 10-month part-time administrative professional position (25 - 30 hours per week with January and July off), with a hybrid work arrangement, which requires scheduled on-campus presence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration
Create and maintain accurate and current records of reported incidents of discrimination, ADA, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, including comprehensive documentation of investigation materials and correspondence.
Transcribe notes, recordings, and verbal communications into reports or other documentation.
Communicate with parties and the VP of Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Compliance (or designee) regarding vital information relating to investigation.
Maintain knowledge of current state, local and federal law, regulations, guidance, and trends in higher education related to harassment/discrimination allegations and Title IX.
Organizes and maintains Title IX grievance files and reports.
Prepares annual statistical reports for the campus community on incidences of sexual harassment.
Investigations
Serve as the primary investigator for assigned cases for allegations of harassment/discrimination and Title IX involving faculty and staff.
Ensures all parties involved in investigations understand the investigatory process, their rights and responsibilities, and how to access other resources as necessary.
Provides guidance and assistance to alleged victims of sexual misconduct and gender discrimination.
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion during all aspects of the investigatory process.
Ensures a well-documented investigative process. Maintains accurate and thorough records and notes of the investigatory process. Creates comprehensive written investigative reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, summarize the evidence, make findings under TNS policy, and recommends appropriate remedial steps.
Identify and integrate best practices in the Title IX investigation arena into knowledge base and practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masterâ™s degree and three to five (3-5) years' experience conducting investigations/working in the area of Title IX and/or EO investigations.
Knowledge of Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Enough is Enough, and state and local relevant regulations.Â
Knowledge of Equal Opportunity (EO) and Affirmative Action (AA) laws and regulations.
Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex cases of Title IX-related incidents and complaints.
Ability to use independent judgment.
The ability to work independently and maintain sensitivity and confidentiality.
Experience building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, students, and community partners.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Microsoft Office, internet, e-mail, and web experience required.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-HYBRID
SALARY
$62,400 - 63,190 annually
