Technical Support Specialist (Entry Level/L1)


Employment Type: Contract


Workplace Type: Onsite


Location: Lancaster/Antelope Valley

Compensation: $20-23/hr


SUMMARY:


The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing remote, telephone and deskside technical and application support to computer users on behalf of PLC. The Technical Support Specialist will image, configure and deploy personal computers, printers, and peripheral equipment. The Technical Support Specialist provides support to clients through the Helpdesk function and resolves issues to ensure that the integrity of PLC's Computer and Network Environments is maintained.


The Technical Support Specialist is able to perform the job duties with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on desktop troubleshooting skills and sound judgment. This person must exhibit excellent task and time management skills, oral and written communication skills, technical expertise, and dedication to Service Level Agreement (SLA) Driven problem resolution.


DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:


  • Installs and configures desktop computers and peripherals
  • Maintains Asset Inventory
  • Receives and Stages new Hardware Inventory
  • Maintains and Deploys desktop Images
  • Provides technical support on equipment including, but not limited to, PLC computers, mobile devices, and servers
  • Assists with disposal and / or donation of older technology
  • Attends weekly department meetings, and other required internal meetings and trainings
  • Uses personal vehicle, as needed, for business needs/purposes.
  • Completes all required training, including agency-wide training job specific training
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the Director of Technology or Chief Operations Officer.
  • Abide by Confidentiality/HIPAA guidelines.


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:


  • Intermediate experience Microsoft Office, Outlook, Active Directory, Windows 10, and desktop imaging using Ghost.
  • Demonstrated experience providing hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, imaging, staging, configuration, and installation of desktop computers
  • Experience performing hardware diagnosis, coordinating, and implementing repairs.
  • Experience installing and configuring operating systems and application software packages.
  • Familiarity or knowledge of the following infrastructure technologies
    • Mobile device support
    • VPN installation and configuration.
    • Network Printing, installation, and configuration
    • Advanced PC Desktop Support
    • GPO's
    • VOIP administration and management
    • Backup Exec configuration and administration
    • Firewall administration and management - Cisco ASA preferred
    • Wireless LAN administration, management, and security
    • Office 365 and Azure AD



  • Strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and software
  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems
  • Ability to monitor and resolve problems with network and desktop computer systems components
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
