Job Description

This candidate will perform the basic functions in a top management position in a retail supermarket, serving as a store director intern, with the goal of learning to manage all aspects of multiple departments and ultimately, the total store. This candidate must be willing to work in multiple store departments in various roles. This candidate will model and demonstrate Balls Food Stores' company vision and company culture.

Essential Functions:

• Assist the store director and other store management teammates in the achievement of favorable guest shopping experiences
• Assist in leading teams in the planning, implementation and execution of merchandising and operation initiatives
• Work with department managers and store teammates to identify sales and merchandising opportunities in the store, develop timely solutions and create effective action plans
• Achieve/exceed weekly, period and annual sales targets; assist in managing to labor budgets, profit budgets, and other targeted goals
• Drive sales working with department managers to maximize sales and profits, ensuring departments are achieving sales and profit goals
• Reduce shrink and improve each department's contribution to the total store
• Assist the store director in store financial performance discussions
• Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape within the store
• Promote and support strong relationships with local community organizations in the surrounding area in which the store operates
• Assist the store director in staffing, reducing turnover and increasing retention
• Assist with the management of labor and supply costs on a daily basis to meet guest service targets and financial targets
• Achieve a satisfactory level of technical and professional skills required for the role of store director
• Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Position Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 3+ years Grocery/Retail Management experience preferred

Additional Preferred Job Experiences:

• Experience in leading multiple, diverse individuals in a retail environment
• Experience in forecasting, budgeting, merchandising and cost/labor management
