Job Title: Senior Designer

Job Description

The Senior Designer will play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring a team of 3 to 4 junior designers, ensuring the highest standards of design and timely project completion. This role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager and the Design Principal to develop compelling design solutions that meet client expectations. Key responsibilities include delegating and overseeing the work of junior designers, reviewing engineering drawings to align with design solutions, selecting fixtures and finishes, managing project budgets, and conducting client interviews to ascertain project requirements. The Senior Designer will also be instrumental in obtaining client approvals and integrating feedback into project designs, while providing regular updates and information to clients on design specifications.

Work Environment

The role is based in a vibrant office located downtown Chicago. The office operates with a hybrid schedule, requiring three days on-site (Monday and Wednesday mandatory, with a flexible choice for the third day) and two days remote. The team is part of a larger workforce of 40 members, divided into design-focused, technical-focused, and graphic design teams. The office primarily handles Corporate Workplace Interiors projects. Educational support includes reimbursement for passed licensure exams and organized study groups.
