Artemis Search Partners is currently seeking a Sr. Commercial Lines Underwriter for one of its clients, a National Mutual Insurance Company, based in Indianapolis.
Position Title: Sr. Commercial Lines Underwriter
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Position Type: Full time, permanent. Hybrid opportunity with work from home options available.

Position Responsibilities: - Effectively communicates with clients via phone, email and possibly in-person
- Analyze insurance applications and evaluates risk within underwriting guidelines, keeping company profitability in mind
- Evaluates risk for professional liability, D&O, Agent E&O, and Insurance Company E&O exposures
- Determine premiums, limits, deductibles, retentions and identify alternative offerings and prepare quotes for client
- Review, evaluate files determining loss exposure
- review claim reports, premiums, loss ratio and changes to policies.
- Evaluate renewal, determine action needed and communicate to appropriate agency
- Stays abreast on current industry related trends and topics to serve as an expert consultant to clients and prospects
- Invests in team environment by mentoring and/or training less tenured team members
- Assists with operational duties as necessary
- Strives to continually develop self and industry knowledge with a willingness to work towards professional designations.
Position Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent business experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of Commercial Lines Underwriting experience.
- Professional Liability Underwriting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working independently and under time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational abilities.
- Excellent written, analytical, verbal as well as basic math skills.
