As Cordova Gardens strides towards its vision of a Community School, our staff is dedicated to fostering positive relationships and interactions. We are committed to restorative discipline practices, such as peer mediation and post-conflict resolution. These practices are instrumental in helping our students learn from their mistakes and cultivating a school environment where respect and compassion are fundamental principles.
The Restorative Specialist will provide coaching and professional development to school staff regarding integrating Restorative practices into the school site and serve as a thought partner for school administration in creating practical and student-centered behavior and discipline systems. The Restorative Specialist must be firmly rooted in restorative values, and passionate about working in underserved communities. This person will work to support, and inspire others around the common goal of improved student outcomes.
Previous experience working in a Title 1 school environment, PreK-5 classrooms, student learning support, behavior management, de-escalating behaviors, and supporting students back into the classroom environment is helpful to the success of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training, experience, and education that would likely demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade required. Supplemental coursework in behavioral sciences or a related field is preferred.
Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working in a diverse school setting, with an understanding of the tenets of evidence-based Restorative practices.
