Job Description

We are seeking a Research Program Assistant (RPA) who will support departmental research programs and/or clinical trials with study data collection and organization through the process of recruiting and conducting activities for one or more studies. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to: patient interviews, data collection, data entry, organizing collected information, records management, and communicating with team members on the status of project. The RPA may participate in recruitment, screening, consenting and enrollment.


Specific duties & responsibilities

  • General knowledge of the research and applies basic analytical skills to administer assigned projects, and to identify situations requiring special attention.
  • Screen and assess eligibility criteria for potential study subjects using EPIC
  • Assist in explaining study procedures and obtaining consent with the Research Program Coordinators (RPCs)
  • Ensure that proper written informed consent from each study participant is obtained prior to entering study; ensure that the original signed and dated consent from each study participant is filed in participants' research record.
  • Collect data from patient medical records and questionnaires
  • Be knowledgeable of the protocol so that study activities are completed correctly and completely
  • Monitors data quality and accuracy as required by research protocol.
  • Ensure that case files and accompanying paperwork are organized and current.
  • May perform routine clinical procedures, e.g. height, weight, etc
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings of current research projects to report on recruitment progress and resolve problems.
  • Assist with inventory of study related supplies
  • Clerical and other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Travel to locations on campus including JHH and BV. Access to own vehicle strongly preferred.
  • Flexible schedule on weekdays (no evenings or weekends required)

May be required to

  • Use the JHU OnCore to maintain study enrollment information. May include design of study calendars, all for use via a web-based research infrastructure.
  • Literature search & organize data for research manuscripts, as needed
  • Prepare materials for submission of applications and renewals and maintain communication with the Johns Hopkins IRB and all related committees.
  • Under supervision, perform Quality Assurance activities related to research protocols
  • Develop and modify case report forms as needed.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure SOPs are followed

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate training.
  • Experience in a clinical or clinical research environment preferred
