Job Summary: 

Nortek Air Solutions is seeking a talented and creative Research and Development Mechanical Engineer who thrives on innovation and efficiencyto join the Innovation Team at our Oklahoma facilities.  As a member of the Innovation team, you will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team dedicated to bringing pioneering technologies to market through research, development, prototyping, and testing centered within our nationally recognized laboratories.  With a focus on acoustics, vibrations, aerodynamics, energy efficiency, controls, electronics, thermal design, and mechanical systems, the team works not only with other Nortek facilities and employees but also with a wide range of customers, suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners.  The successful candidate will help cultivate innovation by taking an active role in modeling, prototyping, evaluating, testing, and collaborating with others to explore and demonstrate solutions and concepts critical to the future of our business. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams exploring new ideas and approaches to enhance product performance anddevelop new innovative technologies 

  • Utilize technical expertise and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize product design for efficiency and cost-effectiveness 

  • Conduct design simulations, prototyping, testing, analyses, and team reviews to ensure designs meet technical, performance, and quality standards 

  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes 

  • Occasional travel may be required within North America (up to 1 or 2 times per year) 

The following qualifications are required for this position: 

  • Ability to handle confidential R&D projects appropriately 

  • Interest in research and development 

  • Strong engineering aptitude with a focus on mechanical system design in a manufacturing environment 

  • Excellent computer skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation 

  • Experience with 3D modeling systems, with a preference given to those with Autodesk Inventor experience 

  • Experience with CFD and FEA systems, with a preference given to those with ANSYS experience 

  • Good documentation, project management, and organization skills 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 

  • Three to seven years of engineering experience
