Remote Inpatient Coding Specialist

Location: Remote (Work from Home)

Are you an experienced Coding Integrity Specialist looking for a remote opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge? We have an exciting remote position for a Coding Integrity Specialist III. where you will have the chance to review and evaluate hospital inpatient medical record documentation, assign, sequence, edit, and validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes. Join our team and help ensure accurate and compliant coding across multiple healthcare entities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assign, sequence, validate, and edit codes/DRGs and abstracted data for inpatient records from multiple facilities using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Maintain or exceed established accuracy standards.
• Maintain or exceed established productivity standards.
• Utilize complete patient medical record documentation in code/DRG assignment, validation, and editing.
• Perform coding audits as required.

Job Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) in HIM (Health Information Management)/HIT (Health Information Technology) preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital inpatient coding required, with 3 years preferred.
• Strong coding technical skills in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, and POA Assignment.
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification required.
• Must demonstrate discipline and the ability to meet coding metrics.

Note: Candidates residing in California and Colorado will not be considered due to the remote work and vaccine mandate.

Additional Information:

• You will be responsible for coding quality edits and addressing customer complaints related to potential coding errors.
• We are specifically looking for candidates with three years of inpatient (hospital) DRG coding experience for acute care, including various account types such as burns and cardiac catheterizations.
• As part of the application process, candidates will be expected to complete a coding test consisting of 20 Multiple Choice/True/False questions and 5-7 Open-ended Behavioral questions, taking approximately 90 minutes.

Compensation:

• Salary range from $24.61 to $34.46 per hour (mid-range), based on years of experience.
