Job Description

This Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Department provides skilled nursing care to adult and pediatric patients with varying acuity levels. The role involves a wide range of duties, including patient assessment, medication administration, treatment of various conditions, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Experience in emergency care is preferred but not required for first-time nurses.

Responsibilities:

- Providing direct patient care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced emergency room setting.
- Performing patient assessments, administering medications, and developing treatment plans.
- Managing patients with multi-system organ dysfunction/failure.
- Administering blood products, managing central lines, and performing phlebotomy.
- Starting IVs, administering continuous IV paralytics and sedation, and managing emergency medications and IV vasopressors.
- Performing procedural sedation, managing CVA patients, and adhering to isolation precautions.
- Utilizing electronic health records (Epic).
- Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Responding to emergency situations and providing appropriate care.
- Floating to other units as needed based on census.
- Working every other weekend.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Minimum of one year of experience (first-timers accepted).
- General Emergency Department (Adult/Pediatric) experience.
- Skill in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
- Proficiency in blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV paralytics and sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors.
- Knowledge of CVA management and isolation precautions.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience with Epic electronic health records.

Special Considerations:

- Floating to other units is required based on census.
- Every other weekend work is required.
- Minimal remote work is allowed.
- Pending licenses are not accepted.
- Block scheduling will be considered but is not guaranteed.

Scheduling:

- Shift type and scheduling details will be determined upon hire. The employer will attempt to accommodate block scheduling requests, but this is not guaranteed. Every other weekend work is required.
