Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) supports and builds power with people across New York State who have been affected by mass incarceration, criminalization and community disinvestment. Through a statewide network of direct services, advocacy and organizing, and by supporting the leadership of directly-impacted people, we advance civil and human rights for all New Yorkers.CCA works to build a world where everyone has what they need to thrive. This position will work in a nonprofit fund accounting environment, managing revenue and expense for all individual gifts. Institutional giving is managed by the Institutional Giving team.

Position Summary:
Utilizing their personal experience, the Volunteer Coordinator works to instill a sense of hope and optimism for persons in recovery. The Volunteer Coordinator will demonstrate a personal belief in recovery, supported employment best practices, and a sincere interest in the welfare of persons in recovery at the CORE Center. The Volunteer Coordinator will have completed the requirements of the Credential Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) or Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) Training and will have the ability to utilize learned skills to provide mentoring, support, and unconditional positive regard to peers, in addition to operational support for the CORE Center. The Volunteer Coordinator will assist with facilitating training and developing peer-led recovery groups and pro-social activities, requiring evening and weekend hours, as determined by CCA/CORE Center schedule. Possess a valid NYS driver’s license, a reliable vehicle able to transport participants, and an appropriate level of auto insurance, as required by CCA.
