The Role
We’re hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a new role, created to enhance the reliability and performance of our AI infrastructure. You’ll be instrumental in building and maintaining a high-quality test suite that supports Aldea’s speech-related APIs and broader platform development.

This role is critical to our technical success, with a focus on test development and quality assurance. You’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests across backend systems, starting with our text-to-speech and speech-to-speech APIs. In your first 90 days, success means implementing robust test coverage for these core systems.

We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or backend test engineering. This is a highly cross-functional role: you’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and infrastructure leads to ensure we ship scalable, reliable, and high-performing systems.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Lead QA strategy for backend systems, starting with speech-related APIs
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate testing into the development lifecycle
• Identify and document bugs, edge cases, and test coverage gaps
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows to ensure smooth deployments
• Help define and track KPIs for quality and performance over time

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in QA engineering or backend test development (non-negotiable)
• Experience with GitOps, AI, and Python
• Expertise in automated testing frameworks and QA best practices
• Experience writing tests for APIs and distributed backend systems
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with speech processing technologies
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.)
• Background in performance and load testing for API systems
