About The Role

Piper Sandler is looking for a Public Finance Investment Banking Senior Analyst or Junior Associate to join our market leading team in one of our Texas locations. Piper Sandler is an established firm in Texas that consistently ranks as top underwriter in the Texas market. Our Texas team is focused on providing underwriting service to state and local governments, higher education institutions, and K-12 issuers across the state. The position is a junior banking role and allows for career growth over time into a more senior position. The qualified candidate will support senior bankers in providing investment banking services to clients. At Piper Sandler, our team members assume a high level of responsibility and actively participate in all aspects of a transaction.

The person in this role will develop financial models to structure new money and refunding transactions, prepare analyses on client capital structure, debt capacity and credit profile, prepare presentations for financing proposals and new business development, interact with internal and external financing team members in developing, executing, closing transactions and draft responses to request for proposals.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in public finance or a related field such as banking, accounting or public administration is required.
  • B.S. or B.A. with major(s) in business, economics, finance, public administration, or related fields preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated and willing to work long hours when needed.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills are a must with strong understanding of financial markets.
  • Well organized, attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
  • Experience in using DBC Finance is preferred.
  • Strong communication and professional presence with clients required.

The anticipated starting salary range for Texas-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $85,000-$125,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
