Job Description

- Hybrid position with at least 2 days onsite in Des Moines.
- Oversee data governance initiative for the Iowa Department of Education.
- Collaborate with stakeholders for efficient data collection, storage, sharing, and reporting.
- Lead the establishment of department-wide data governance program.
- Implement policies and processes for data access and use, data security, metadata management, privacy, etc.
- Identify and execute program, process, and technological improvements for better data quality and use.
- Chair and lead the Department's Data Governance Committee.
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to identify data challenges and solutions.
- Develop and enforce agency-wide data governance policies and processes.
- Track data issues and assign accountable staff for resolution.
- Facilitate collaboration between program areas and technology for data quality.
- Liaise between the Data Governance Committee and Department leadership.
- Oversee data sharing agreements.
- Serve as primary contact for personnel regarding data governance, quality, and compliance issues.
- Required: Bachelor's degree or 3 years experience in research/data management.
- 2+ years of experience with data governance, policy development, or reporting.
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation and project management skills.
- Experience in change management or process development.
- Proficient in creating and editing high-quality technical or business documents.
- Desirable: Project management certification, experience chairing committees, and training or mentoring experience.
- Candidates should have experience with data governance, project management, organizational communication, and working with IT systems.
