S ALARY RANGE : $70,000 - $85,000

FLSA S TATUS : Exempt

SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor works with leadership and across the site to establish, optimize and meet production goals to meet the needs of our customers within budget and scope in the production of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), batteries and supporting products. This position directs and supervisors a team in collaboration with and direction from the Production Manager. This position is both tactical and strategic in nature.


R
ESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Determines labor needs & creates schedule based on production requirements, assigns work rotations taking into account vacations, holidays, overtime and any special assignment/project responsibilities
  • Creates a culture of engagement & growth through the use a variety of tools including performance reviews, 1:1’s, structured feedback, employee development plans and skip level meetings to determine in collaboration with HR, Leadership, and the employee a career plan with timing
  • Provides feedback on performance both formally and informally, does so in a manner that is effective, professional, clear and inspirational when possible
  • In collaboration with HR creates, delivers and monitors performance/discipline documents (corrective actions, PIPs) and conversations.
  • Champions, participates in and supports initiatives such as succession and career pathing
  • In partnership with leadership creates, prioritizes and sustains a workforce that is diverse and inclusive
  • Participates in the hiring and advancement of employees, complying with all applicable laws and regulations and working within best practices
  • May participate in employee disciplinary actions in conjunction with Management & HR.
  • Champions, trains, coaches and enforces a healthy work culture including safety, environmental, teamwork, discipline, work processes and housekeeping
  • Trains on, documents, updates SOP’s and communicates changes
  • Tracks production targets, supports engineering and other projects, and assures on-time delivery
  • Tracks and reports on throughput, efficiency, cost, and on-time delivery. Resultingly, develops and communicates improvement action plans
  • Collaborates with engineering, safety and other stakeholders to evaluate, document and communicate new equipment procedures and requirements
  • Works with supply chain, maintenance and leadership to forecast and trouble shoot material/ equipment issues/needs
  • Analyzes, maintains, compiles, utilizes & provides a variety of reports/communications including, non-conforming, inventory, kanban’s & production & metric boards & training matrix, ensuring meeting of organizational goals.
  • Is a first responder and a lead member of Safety Committee
  • Determines, analyzes, recommends and provides tools, PPE, equipment, tools for job completion
  • Assures correct materials and supplies are available for production as required in alignment with production schedule, escalates & makes adjustments proactively to ensure schedule attainment.
  • Assists in the performance of accident &/or incident investigations, applies corrective actions as required and within time requirements.
  • Conduct departmental meetings to communicate changes, updates to employees regarding business requirements, safety, policies, procedures and practices

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 7+ years of direct experience leading others in a similar role & environment
  • 3+ years of experience working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • 3+ years working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • 3+ years successfully and formally leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience training others
  • Ability to lead others effectively and respectfully creating a positive, healthy workplace
  • Ability to have difficult conversations timely, effectively and respectfully.
  • Superior ability to lead others who possess a wide variety of communication styles providing a wide variety of tasks
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Communicate effectively & professionally in both verbal and written formats across the organization
  • Superior problem-solving skills around multiple variables that affect production & people
  • Proven people, safety, and quality focus
  • Professional positive-can do attitude and behavior, regardless of the situation
