Overview:
The Production Scheduler will work under the general direction of the PM & Inventory Control Supervisor and will play a crucial part in orchestrating production activities to align with sales demands, shipping schedules, and inventory management goals. The Production Scheduler must be meticulous and instrumental in ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of accuracy and coordination.

Responsibilities:
Daily Tasks:
- Establish new items, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Routes, and standard costs within the ERP system.
- Initiate and manage work orders for production in response to current demands.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to initiate rework work orders for specific production processes.
- Generate purchase orders and production orders for items supplied by third-party vendors.
- Communicate effectively with vendors regarding back orders and procurement issues.
- Address customer inquiries regarding product availability and delivery schedules.
- Develop comprehensive Excel spreadsheets to compile and disseminate information to managers and supervisors as required.
- Reconcile production discrepancies to ensure accurate inventory records.
- Create and maintain work instructions within the ERP system as needed.
- Track and verify inventory movements from inception to completion in the ERP system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ERP system errors affecting production scheduling and inventory management.
- Lead the Design to Produce team to optimize workflow efficiency and coordination.
- Review and authorize invoices related to purchases for resale in coordination with the accounting department.
- Collaborate with the millroom to update Work-In-Progress (WIP) fittings for precise production tracking.
- Implement schedule adjustments to accommodate production priorities and resource availability.
- Address purchase discrepancies by coordinating with vendors to promptly resolve issues.
- Uphold data integrity for ERP system records related to finished goods and assemblies.
- Coordinate transfers and schedule trucks efficiently using Mercury Gate for logistics management.
Weekly Tasks:
- Develop production schedules and core schedules based on operational needs and sales forecasts.
- Generate, update, and analyze reports for scheduling meetings and manage negative available reports to optimize production efficiency.
- Enter production orders accurately and timely into the ERP system.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the sales team to align production plans with customer demands.
- Attending production scheduling meetings to facilitate effective inter-departmental coordination.
Monthly Tasks:
- Close completed work orders in the ERP system to facilitate accurate inventory tracking and financial reporting.
- Review and assess Work-In-Progress (WIP) work orders status to streamline production flow and resource allocation.
Semi-Annually / Yearly Tasks:
- Update minimum stock levels for inventory items based on production trends and demand forecasts.
- Provide updated purchase costs to the accounting department to support financial planning and reporting accuracy.
All Times:
- Demonstrate a dedication to safety by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Inventory Control Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Production Scheduler or in a similar role within manufacturing or production environments.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably experience with Mercury Gate), Excel, and other relevant software applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering and working in the plant.
