Position Overview:

As an Open Production Manager Lead within our organization, you will oversee a dedicated team responsible for assembling and wiring electrical control panels, racks, wire harnesses, and mechanical sub-assemblies for passenger rail cars. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that safety, cost efficiency, quality standards, and project schedules are consistently met. You will spearhead initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency, implementing performance measures and benchmarks to monitor departmental progress effectively. Managing employee performance and fostering positive communication within the team will be essential, ensuring alignment with company policies and operational goals. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to lead and innovate within a vital segment of our manufacturing operations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Ensure a safe and balanced work environment. Ensure all team members are trained in, and observe safe work practices.
  • Plan production operations, define workflow, establish priorities and work sequences, and define production processes to meet project and interdepartmental requirements.
  • Meet project labor hour budgets.
  • Develop, monitor, and meet department budgets and business plans.
  • Establish, monitor, and adjust personnel plans to meet production demands.
  • Ensure development and documentation of best practice work standards and ensure all team members are accurately trained for their assigned tasks.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and 5S principles and initiatives to eliminate waste, and improve production efficiency and equipment performance.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • BS/BA in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You have led industrial OEM electrical assembly teams within the last 5 years
  • Experience with electrical assembly operations for OEM equipment in a schedule-driven, project environment for over 10 years.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of effective work processes associated with the assembly of electrical panels and racks, including device mounting, wire routing, and wire termination.
  • Knowledge of effective work processes associated with the production of complex wire harnesses.
  • Knowledge of reading electrical wiring schematics.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming.
  • Familiarity with various communication networks such as Ethernet, CAN Bus, etc.

The base salary range for this position in North Carolina is $107,000 to $145,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary . The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
