About the Position: 

TCG Labs-Soleil is seeking a highly experienced and driven principal scientist to lead our protein purification and biochemistry efforts. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role advancing our protein therapeutics research and development programs. This role requires deep expertise in protein purification, biochemistry, and a strong focus on therapeutic applications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex R&D projects, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to the strategic direction of the Protein Sciences group. This candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude and lead from the bench.

Responsibilities:

• Lead from the bench to manage the protein purification efforts in the protein science group
• Drive the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments focused on protein purification, characterization, and functional analysis
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for the generation of recombinant proteins using a variety of host cells such as mammalian, insect, and bacterial cells
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate protein science insights into drug discovery and development programs
• Troubleshoot and persevere on difficult projects to successful conclusions
• Responsible for supporting the needs of multiple drug discovery projects and science objectives in parallel
• Prepare precise technical summaries, protocols, and maintenance of appropriate documentation

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, chemical engineering, or a related discipline with postdoc and industry experience
• Minimal of 9 years of post doctoral experience in protein purification and biochemistry, with a significant portion in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting
• Demonstrated expertise in the purification and characterization of therapeutic proteins
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing direct reports and mentoring scientific teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Hands-on working style and extensive experience with instrumentation essential for protein purification, especially AKTA FPLC and Agilent or Vanquish HPLC systems
• Extensive experience with all the protein characterization techniques and be able to troubleshoot and lead from the bench
• Familiarity with constructs design for challenging targets in various expression systems is desired, such as a solid understanding of vector elements and utilization of solubility-enhancing elements
• Hands-on experience from small (milligram level) to large scale (gram level) endotoxin-free production of antibody and protein therapeutics.
• Experience in the development of broad protein-based modalities and therapeutics in various disease areas from early discovery to IND filing is highly desired
• Experience with IND filing documentation preparation and knowledge of regulatory requirements are desired
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for protein analysis
• Must be able to thrive and deliver results on goals in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly multi-tasking environment
• Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills

Benefits and Compensation 

TCG Labs-Soleil provides a competitive benefits package that includes access to Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), 401k plan and PTO.

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role will be $140,000 - $250,000 annually (not including discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include but are not limited to relevant previous experience including duration and type of experience within the industry, education, and internal equity.
