Dynamic 3D Solutions, LLC has an immediate opening for a Piping/Mechanical Designer in our Columbia, IL office. The Piping Designer performs detail design tasks of piping systems and structure in a 3D environment utilizing AutoCAD Plant 3D software for the industrial, commercial, and food & beverage market segments. In addition, will assist with and execute 3D Laser Scanning projects.

Description & Duties

• Gather and organize information to be used for developing the design and drawings
• Generate 3D models for equipment, piping, and steel
• Layout new equipment arrangements
• Collaborate with all disciplines (mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation) in the design
• Handle design package software issues internally, externally (clients), and with software providers
• Assist with the assembly and review of design packages
• Manage intelligent or “smart” P&ID projects from concept to completion
• Generate isometrics, plan & elevation drawings, bills of material, etc.
• Participate in 3D model design reviews
• Prepare detailed layout drawings and sketches requiring the application of theoretical, practical engineering and design knowledge
• Support the Project Manager or Lead Designer to achieve project goals and milestones
• Ability to maintain strict, aggressive project schedules
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Assist in 3D laser scanning of client sites, both in the St. Louis area and worldwide
• 3D Laser Scanning data processing
• Travel domestically and internationally ranging from 0-5% per year
• Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations
• Conduct activities in a safe, clean and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment

Daily work is performed in an office. Occasionally site visits to an uncontrolled atmosphere are required. Exposure to harsh conditions such as heat, cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures for short periods of time is possible. Must be able to occasionally travel to jobsites.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs or ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.

Education & Experience

• Minimum of Associates Degree in Drafting, CAD, or Industrial Design
• 5+ years experience in piping, mechanical or industrial design

Basic Qualifications (required skills/experience)

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Navisworks software
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Attention to detail is a must
• Ability to accept creative feedback
• Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs
• Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities
• Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts

Preferred Qualifications (desired skills/experience)

• AutoCAD Plant 3D or CADWorx (AutoCAD Plant 3D preferred)
• Experience in performing and using 3D laser scanning
• Some Revit experience

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• No relocation assistance provided for this position
