Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide support and assistance to maintaining the efficient operation of the Rehabilitation Therapy department.
- Assists in development and provision of restorative nursing programs.
- Responsible for related duties as delegated by Skilled Therapist, Restorative Nurse, or Rehab Therapies Director.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis provides skilled nursing care in a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year experience in one of the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Human Services Technician (HST)
- Rehabilitation Aide in a clinical setting
- Home Health Aide (HHA) working with geriatric patients;
OR
Associate or higher degree in Health Sciences, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health and Wellness, or a related field;
OR
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an allied health field program like Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant, and Occupational Therapy Assistant.
In addition, qualified applicants must demonstrate
- Effective communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate, follow detailed instructions, and document residents' activities in fitness gym.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to use software to input and retrieve data.
Preferred Qualifications - Two or more years of experience as a CNA, HST, Rehabilitation Aide in a clinical setting or HHA working with geriatric patients
- Experience working with exercise wellness programs
- Skills in operating and maintaining exercise equipment
- Experience working in a geriatric exercise environment
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with patients with varying levels of dementia
Additional Requirements This position requires successful completion of the following:
