The Workforce Development Bureau (WDB) of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking a critical thinker who can manage and improve employee assistance programs, organizational development services, and employee on boarding, as well as serve as the department training administrator, is a highly motivated self- starter, and possesses excellent communication skills. If you enjoy collaborating with all levels of staff who are focused on employee assistance, organizational development, and training, this is the perfect position for you. We have flexible schedules in a hybrid (Telework/remote and on campus) work environment. The incumbent will closely interact with various levels of CDSS leadership, customers, vendors, and subject matter experts throughout CDSS to supervise and deploy employee assistance, organizational development, on boarding, and training and facilitation activities.

The Organizational Development and On boarding Specialist will act as a highly skilled specialist and work closely with all levels of staff and management throughout the department.

The incumbent will be responsible for the programs such as the department’s:
Employee Assistance Program
Organizational Development Services
Departmental On boarding
Department Training Administrator
Department Meeting Coordination/Facilitation

This is a 12-month limited term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24-months and/or may become permanent based on operational needs.

Working Conditions

• This position works under the Human Resources Services Branch (HRSB) and is privileged with access to  confidential information. The employee acknowledges sensitive and/or confidential information is not to be  discussed, copied, or shared with unauthorized personnel outside HRSB.

• Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods.

• Duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors.

• Standard office environment (for example, artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.)

• Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.

• Additional working condition(s): Travel throughout the State may be required on an occasional basis.

This work location is very convenient!  The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies. Headquarter location will be designated based on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location.
