Exagen is a patient-focused and discovery-driven life sciences company dedicated to transforming the care continuum for patients suffering from debilitating and chronic autoimmune diseases. Our goal is to enable rheumatologists to improve care for patients through the differential diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of complex autoimmune and autoimmune-related diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. By leveraging our proprietary Cell-Bound Complement Activation Products, or CB-CAPs, technology, we help get to the real cause of a patient's symptoms and guide their journey to improved health.

About the Opportunity:

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the scientific integrity, accuracy, and clarity of all communications, serving as a bridge between research, medical affairs, marketing, regulatory, and commercial teams. The Medical Affairs Writer will contribute to a variety of materials, including conference abstracts, manuscripts, posters, regulatory documents, educational materials, and promotional content. This position requires a strong scientific background, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex clinical data into clear and impactful messaging for diverse audiences, including healthcare providers, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess advanced scientific acumen, excellent communication skills, and an ability to synthesize and translate complex data into impactful deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Literature Curation & Analysis
    • Build and maintain a living library of peer-reviewed and gray literature relevant to Exagen's disease states, technologies, and pipeline priorities.
    • Conduct deep-dive analyses of scientific literature to evaluate trends, gaps, and opportunities for innovation.
    • Develop internal summary reports and competitive landscape assessments based on emerging research and technologies.
  • Clinical & Market Access Support
    • Create and maintain detailed clinical dossiers to support payer reimbursement and regulatory submissions for diagnostic tests.
    • Contribute to regulatory documentation to ensure alignment with compliance standards and clinical claims.
    • Collaborate with clinical affairs to ensure appropriate communication of the scientific rigor in study protocols, data interpretation, and results dissemination.
    • Serve as a resource to respond to internal and external clinical inquiries with evidence-based, referenced content.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical writing experience in biotech, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling, and compliant scientific narratives.
