MAINTENANCE FIELD SUPERVISOR - HOSPITAL MAINTENANCE (2)-( T219423)

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Join our dynamic team at Hospital Maintenance in UAB Facilities, where we are seeking a dedicated and experienced maintenance supervisor. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of hospital equipment crucial to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Excellence: Leads a team of general maintenance and painting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth execution of maintenance activities.

  • Operational Planning: Strategically plans work activities, establishes schedules, and manages staffing requirements to maintain seamless operations.

  • Resource Management: Estimates and procures necessary resources such as equipment, parts, materials, and supplies to support maintenance activities effectively.

  • Training and Development: Trains team members in updated procedures and methods, ensuring they are equipped to deliver top-notch service. Attends safety meetings and other departmental meetings.

  • Compliance and Safety: Manages contractors and ensures adherence to safety standards (including The Joint Commission, local, state, and federal regulations) to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

  • Administrative Oversight: Handles administrative tasks, such as financial data management, payroll, inventory, and reporting to support operational efficiency.

  • Customer Focus: Responds to inquiries and concerns promptly from staff, patients, and visitors, fostering a positive environment.

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $60,835 - $96,000.00 (Starting rates are based on our Compensation Guidelines, taking into consideration total relevant, verifiable experience (UAB/UAB Medicine and outside experience), grade minimum, internal equity, and pay ranges).

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Business, Science or a related field, post-secondary vocation OR technical two year school diploma OR master card in plumbing or electrical OR HVAC state contractor's license OR NICET certification in industrial instrumentation and controls AND five (5) years of experience in commercial or industrial maintenance. Two (2) of the five (5) years should show successful progression in responsibilities and demonstrated leadership skills. Resumes are recommended but not required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Dedication to delivering excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in maintenance operations, ideally within a healthcare setting.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team towards common goals.

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with various departments to resolve operational challenges.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role, preferably within a healthcare setting

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations

  • Deep understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

  • Ability to manage various financial aspects

  • Flexibility due to on-call requirements. Position is designated as essential personnel, requiring work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, regardless of the University's closure. Employees should be prepared to travel to work during inclement weather, emphasizing the importance of their role in critical situations.

  • Required to meet the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform tasks, including wearing respirators and other personal protective equipment, such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and:

    • Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds

    • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, and working at heights above thirty (30) feet

    • Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings in the hospital, working in confined spaces, sitting at a desk, and staring at a computer screen for long periods, and working within extreme temperature ranges

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
