Position Summary


The Engineer II will be part of a team for Subsea Robotics (SSR) global Installation Engineering team, part of SSR OPG Engineering. This Engineer II position is based in Houston, TX. The Engineer II is responsible for supporting technical aspects for projects related to Remotely Operated Vehicle installations on various vessels, rigs, semi submersibles etc. The SSR Installation team member will be a part of global team based in Houston, Norway, and India. The Engineer II will report to the Installation Engineering Manager.

WORK LOCATION AND TRAVEL

• Role provides the opportunity to work in hybrid environment, working both virtually and in office when required.
• Position may require some travel including offshore.
• Ability to travel offshore up to 10% of the time.

Duties & Responsibilities


ESSENTIAL

• Conduct initial conceptual design work based on project design basis.
• Conduct engineering calculations and analysis.

o Calculations will include hand calculations and/or engineering calculation software.
o Analysis will include both beam element and dynamic motion analysis.

• Communicate and coordinate regularly with other team members in other Oceaneering locations worldwide.
• Coordinate the review of engineering packages by regulatory agencies such as DNV and ABS etc.
• Perform equipment evaluations, sourcing, and potential supplier selections.
• Develop test programs for factory acceptance, certification, and systems integration testing of developed equipment.
• Evaluate project design basis data to determine feasibility of equipment and/or services being proposed.
• Prepare or direct preparation of product specifications, system layouts, assembly drawings, user manuals and detailed drawings/schematics.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and System Integration Tests (SIT).
• Prepare presentations and technical papers.
• Ability to work in onshore and offshore yards, predominately in the Gulf of Mexico up to 10%.

Qualifications


REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Ocean Engineering).
• Min five (5) years engineering experience including experience with:

o Classical analytical methods.
o 2D CAD, 3D CAD.
o Finite Element Analysis software.

• Must be able to obtain:

o Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
o Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Basic Training.
o Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET).

DESIRED
• Experience in offshore installations and lifting.
• Practical experience with engineering such as AutoCAD; Solidworks; MathCAD; ANSYS and/or Risa3D.
• Previous experience working with hydraulic systems is a plus.
• Knowledge about Remotely operated vehicles (ROV).
• MS Office.
• Ability to travel offshore up to 10% of the time.

Additional Information


This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
