Human Resources Generalist/Recruiter

· Johnny’s Markets is changing the way people think about convenience stores, and as a Recruiter, you’ll play a key role in developing the customer experience at our chain of 65+ locations. With direction from our CFO, you’ll ensure that stores are staffed with the best talent for our Johnny’s team.

· The Human Resources Generalist/Recruiter develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process, onboarding, new hire orientation, employee education and training, management development and recognition programs. The HR Generalist/Recruiter is responsible for activities related to workers compensation and safety, risk and general liability insurance, employee benefits program, leaves program, and the Corporate Office payroll process.

  What You'll Do

  • Develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process including sourcing applicants, interviewing and selection, making employment offers, and onboarding of qualified job applicants.
  • Recruit for all open positions across Johnny’s Markets and food service brands.
  • Manage candidate activity in the applicant tracking system and a requisition workload of 50 to 100+ open positions at any given time. Update and post jobs in the applicant tracking system.
  • Hold onsite open interviews in each market and participate in local job fairs as needed.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks, MVRs and employee eligibility verifications as required.
  • Collaborate with Area Managers, Store/Food Service Managers, and other Department Leaders to ensure company staffing goals are being met.
  • Work with the marketing department to design recruiting materials, applicant communication templates, and online presence through the applicant tracking system.
  • Analyze employee turnover, recruiting data, exit/stay interview results and referral programs to aid in improving employee retention.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs such as Rewards for Recruits and Years of Service Awards.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Team, design and implement new hire orientation/onboarding program including video content, length and sequence.
  • Identify and implement training course curriculum through Ready Training Online (RTO) system.
  • Train store and food service leaders in HR processes and procedures.
  • Approve timesheets and coordinate weekly payroll for the Corporate Office.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, interpret company policies, and refer matters or questions as appropriate to BCN Services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in customer relations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of experience in Human Resources or recruiting in a retail environment
  • Basic computer and software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email).
  • Proficient in PrismHiring Applicant Tracking System preferred but not required.
  • This position requires travel and a regular presence in Johnny’s Markets and food service brand locations with a focus on recruiting, training, and safety activities. 
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive up to and exceed 200 miles per week.
  • Ability to bend, stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., and frequently carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Marketing experience and skills are a plus.
