Job Description

The Ohio Department of Insurance is seeking numerous individuals to work on a temporary basis from September 9 - December 13, 2024 (Monday-Friday- 8:00am-5:00pm) to assist callers during the Medicare Open Enrollment Period. THESE POSITIONS ARE TEMPORARY IN NATURE AND WILL NOT LEAD TO PERMANANT EMPLOYMENT. The ideal candidates must have excellent communication skills, strong data analysis abilities, have the capability to remain positive in a fast-paced environment.

Your Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provides assistance and information to consumers regarding insurance inquiries relative to Medicare options, including Part D;
• Operates personal computer to generate Medicare Advantage and Part D comparison reports using Medicare's Plan Finder tool;
• Processes on-line part D enrollment applications when requested;
• Responds to questions regarding the Low-income Subside (LIS) program and completes on-line LIS application;
• Responds to questions regarding the Medicare Savings Programs (MSP) and assists with the completion of MSP applications;
• Prints and mails appropriate Part D, LIS and MSP related documents to consumers;
• Refers consumers to higher level analysts or appropriate agencies for further assistance when necessary;
• Identifies possible violations of federal marketing guidelines to the appropriate unit/division within the Ohio Department of Insurance;
• Reports daily activities using shipnpr.shiptalk.org;
• Operates standard office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, printer, etc.)
• Assists in overall operation of the senior counseling program (mailings, data entry, etc.)
• Attends training sessions
• Reports all activity in federal web based reporting tool
• Assists with data entry of various program forms
• Performs other duties as assigned

Successful candidates must have and maintain internet at their remote location during normal working hours. In addition, employees must reside in Ohio and within a reasonable distance from the Department location to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Qualifications

24 months experience in insurance field (i.e., regulatory or industry) working with insureds or insurance contracts (e.g., health; life; annuities; personal lines; commercial lines); 6 months experience or 6 months training in operation of personal computer or mainframe computer; 1 course in basic mathematics.

• Or 2 courses in insurance; 18 months experience in insurance field (i.e., regulatory or industry) working with insureds or insurance contracts (e.g., health; life; annuities; personal lines; commercial lines); 6 months experience or 6 months training in operation of personal computer on mainframe computer; 1 course in basic mathematics.

• Or completion of undergraduate core program in insurance or business.

• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
