Heavy Equipment / Diesel Mechanic – Road Service
LOCATION: Raleigh, NC & Surrounding Areas
TYPE: Full-Time (Monday-Friday)
SUMMARY:
The Road Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for responding to road service calls from customers in the territory. This person will be troubleshooting and performing mechanical repairs and installs on a variety of heavy equipment in the field, including street sweepers, Hydrovac trucks and refuse trucks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Transport Mechanic
- 2+ years’ experience as a Certified Mechanic preferred
- Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Possession of a CDL is preferred or willing to obtain
- Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
- Exposure to Street Sweepers, Vacuum Trucks or Refuse equipment considered an asset
- Chassis experience considered an asset
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform trouble shooting, mechanical repairs and PDIs (pre-delivery inspections) on a variety of heavy equipment in the field
- Conduct repairs in a timely and effective manner, communicating effectively with the Service Writer and Parts team to ensure optimal efficiency
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections, as required
- Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and job status changes
- Manage Service Truck inventory and ensure all required items are in place for health and safety compliance
- Complete all work order functions in PFW for all service calls completed
SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation/regulations/safety policies
- Report any known workplace hazard or safety violations
- Cooperate with their workplace’s Safety Committee or health and safety representative
- Use any safety equipment, protective devices or clothing required
- Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.
