Phone/Skype Hire. Onsite from day 1

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Duration: 12+ months

Responsibilities

• Meet with State staff to determine the scope of a project;
• Advise State on strategies to reach a particular audience;
• Determine the message the design should portray;
• Create images that identify a product or convey a message;
• Develop graphics for logos and websites;
• Select colors, images, text style, and layout;
• Present the design to State;
• Incorporate changes recommended by the State into the final design;
• Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them;
• Ensure that coding standards are met; optimizing the web architectures for navigability and accessibility;
• Utilize specialized graphic design software to prepare designs;

Skills Needed

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in software development or 2+ years of experience in graphic design
• Experience effectively executing against brand guidelines and maintaining brand standards, including demonstrating considered layout, image composition, typography and color palette
• Experience designing externally facing information and graphics in a visually appealing way
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and animation)
• Available to work from Baton Rouge, LA on a regular basis
• Ability to effectively edit and augment written and visual elements of program content
• Experience translating technical concepts into straightforward visual designs
• Experience aligning web development applications with technical programming
• Familiarity with Craft CMS architecture
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• UX/UI Design competencies
• Application of specialized skills within a government agency environment
