Frontend Engineer - Junior
Hybrid schedule: Fairfax VA Active Secret Clearance Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Junior Frontend Engineer for a potential opportunity. In this position, the Engineer will:
- Build responsive, component-based UIs using React (or Angular/Vue) that interact with complex backend APIs.
- Prototype mockups or wireframes for stakeholder presentations and reviews.
- Create a comprehensive and unified library of UI components that can be utilized for all future development and can be modified for specific use cases.
- Perform functional and integration testing of UI components and workflows using modern testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Mocha/Chai, etc.
- Building interfaces that are responsive to all screen sizes and aligned with Government 508 Compliance requirements.
- Ensure UI works with screen readers (JAWS/NVDA), keyboard navigation, and color contrast before QA.
Primary Objectives: Assist in the Discovery Phase activities of gathering user requirements, business analysis, legacy system analysis, Epic/Story creation, external data integration planning, and product backlog management.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- 2+ years of designing and developing user interfaces using React or React Native.
- Familiarity with modern design tools such as Figma.
