Summary The Childcare Floater plays a vital role in maintaining the daily operations of the childcare program by supporting multiple classrooms as needed. This position requires a flexible, adaptable individual who can assist teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children. The floater works with children of varying ages, from infants to preschoolers, depending on the needs of the day.
Work Schedule: This position is for an afternoon floater. You must be available from 11:00 am - 5:45 pm, Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be added to meet the needs of the center.
Duties Key Responsibilities: - Classroom Support: Assist lead and assistant teachers in daily activities, transitions, and routines. Provide coverage during breaks, absences, or when additional help is needed.
- Child Engagement: Interact positively with children, encouraging their curiosity, development, and participation in activities. Maintain a warm and nurturing demeanor.
- Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care. Monitor children during play, rest, and mealtimes, stepping in to address safety concerns as necessary.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide consistent and high-quality care across all classrooms. Maintain clear and respectful communication with team members.
- Cleaning and Organization: Help maintain clean, organized, and safe classroom environments by tidying up, sanitizing surfaces and toys, and assisting with setting up or breaking down activities.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to adjust your schedule and classroom assignments daily, based on the center?s staffing and operational needs.
- Compliance: Follow all childcare licensing regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of Little Oaks Academy.
Requirements - A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements for childcare staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and work with children of varying ages and needs.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children.
- Must be available 5 days a week from 11:00 am - 5:45 pm
Nice To Haves Some experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right person with the right attitude.

As a non-profit, LOA operates under a Board of Directors (the Board). The Board is charged with defining the mission, vision, and values of LOA?s early childhood education and development program.
