Job Summary:
In response to recent contract expansions, we are seeking up to five skilled ED Coders with experience in DoD or DHA environments. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to impactful healthcare initiatives. The position offers both full-time and part-time options, with the flexibility of remote work from your home office.
Responsibilities:
Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient facility and professional services.
Ensure correct assignment of DRGs for inpatient stays, optimizing reimbursement and workload credit.
Perform corrections as necessary for tasks entered into the edit failure work queues.
Qualifications:
Previous experience within DoD or DHA within the last year is required.
Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, DRG assignment, and relevant coding systems.
Practical understanding of medical specialties, diagnostic procedures, and ancillary services.
Ability to consistently code at 97% accuracy.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in relevant specialties within the past 10 years.
Minimum of three (3) years of medical coding or auditing experience if in an MTF, with at least one (1) year in relevant specialties.
Credentials:
Current coding certification in good standing from recognized professional and institutional coding categories.
Education Requirement:
Post-high school education or training in healthcare administration, health information management, or relevant fields.
Alternatively, completion of accredited coding certification preparation courses or relevant university/college coursework.
