Position Overview
We are actively seeking an experienced Estimator with deep technical proficiency in Commercial Curtain Wall Systems, Storefront Glazing, and FRP/Aluminum/Hollow Metal (HM) Doors, Frames, and Hardware Sets. This role is critical to our growth across both public and private commercial construction projects throughout New Jersey.
Ideal candidates will have a field background in installation or fabrication and bring that knowledge into a highly technical estimation and cost engineering role. Strong understanding of Division 8 systems, public procurement laws, and NJ-specific bidding environments is essential.
Core Technical Competencies
Curtain Wall & Storefront Estimation (Division 8)
Expertise in unitized vs. stick-built curtain wall systems.
Proficient in pricing for anchors, embeds, extrusions, pressure plates, caps, and seals.
Familiar with thermal break requirements, impact-rated assemblies, and NFRC/U-factor compliance.
FRP / AL / HM Doors & Frames
Knowledge of fiberglass-reinforced polymer doors for high-abuse or specialty environments (e.g., healthcare, cleanrooms).
Experience with top manufacturers: Special-Lite, Ceco, Kawneer, Krieger, Tiger Door.
Pricing of doors, frame types, gasketing, glazing kits, and reinforcement options.
Commercial Door Hardware Sets
Strong command of ANSI/BHMA standards, electrified hardware, panic devices, access control prep, and keying schedules.
Capable of coordinating submittals, templates, and integration across trades.
Public Bidding (New Jersey-Focused)
Proven ability to navigate NJ-specific public procurement laws:
N.J.S.A. 18A:18A (Public School Contracts)
N.J.S.A. 40A:11 (Local Public Contracts)
NJEDA/NJSDA protocols
Experience with prevailing wage rates, certified payroll, labor classifications, and DPMC Prequalification.
Skilled in preparing RFIs, tracking addenda, and producing compliant, timely bid submissions.
Software Proficiency
Estimating: PartnerPak, Glazier Studio, GDS Estimating, Ycalc X5, Storefronts Online
Takeoffs & CAD: AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu
Project Tools: Procore, Builder, or similar cloud-based platforms
Advanced Excel skills for matrix creation, bid tabs, and cost breakouts
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings
Develop and submit full bid packages in accordance with GC/CM requirements
Engage with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to align on scope and pricing
Lead post-bid efforts: clarifications, VE suggestions, change orders
Conduct pre-bid walkthroughs and support post-award project transitions
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years in architectural glazing or commercial door industry (minimum 5 in estimating)
Deep knowledge of Division 8 specifications
Prior experience in NJ public works bidding, especially NJEDA/NJSDA
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
OSHA 30, LEED familiarity, or NJ SDA certification a plus
