Job Description

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. This position is part-time (30 hours per week) and will serve the Pantex Plant in a remote capacity with occasional travel to Amarillo, TX.

Overview:

• Assist subject matter experts with regulatory reports, including air quality permitting, drinking water systems, waste water, sustainability, and environmental management systems.
• Perform duties as a team member in the Environmental Compliance Department.
• Provide specialty job knowledge and experience to support the development of compliance strategies and written reports.
• Provide team input to ensure strict compliance with permits, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, and Federal and State regulations. 
• Cross train and conduct walk downs with other environmental professionals in the field and across the industrial areas to support final recommendations of a highly technical nature within a range of environmental science specialties.
• Employ significant professional experience, education, and specialized training across multiple environmental science disciplines to lead or support other subject matter experts and ensure monitoring, analysis, and recording of monitoring data by technical and sampling organizations meet data quality objectives.
• Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office software to support excellence in written and verbal stakeholder communications and reporting.
• Support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review of projects and actions to ensure compliance with Pantex Plant goals, DOE Orders and Policies, and state and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:

• To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
• Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is requ  ired.

About the Site:

The NNSA's Pantex Plant, located in Amarillo, Texas, assembles, disassembles, tests, and evaluates nuclear weapons in support of the NNSA stockpile stewardship program while also performing research and development in conventional high explosives and serving as an interim storage site for plutonium pits removed from dismantled weapons ( energy.gov ).

COMPENSATION: GEM does not publish salary ranges on external job boards; all ranges listed are estimates made by vendors and not actual salary ranges. GEM’s offered compensation is dependent on candidates’ education, qualifications, and relevant years of experience.

REQUIREMENTS

•  Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
