Job Summary:


This is a position for a software engineer to develop Telematics on-board monitoring software for Caterpillar machine & engine applications. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can't wait for you to join the team!!



What You Will Do:
  • Developing, configuring, and testing Telematics on-board software.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting software issues; and reporting development status.
  • Working closely with Telematics systems engineers, and other software development teams.
Education requirement:
  • Requires a degree in a Computer Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.
What skills you will have:



Teamwork:
  • Knowledge working in a fast-paced, and large Agile team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge in embedded controls software development within global team for Telematics applications in heavy machinery or automotive industry to gather data and remotely monitoring assets.
Technical Excellence:
  • Knowledge with GIT configuration management tool
  • Knowledge using Design Patterns in software development.
  • Extensive knowledge with developing Unit Tests and Test-Driven Development
  • Knowledge with UML Tools like Rhapsody in developing designs through UML diagrams.
  • Knowledge using Linux and working in Ubuntu.
  • Extensive knowledge using C++ (with emphasis on C++11/14) programming language.
Technical Troubleshooting:
  • Knowledge with CAN, J1939, TCP/IP and other data link protocols
  • Knowledge using CAN based tools like CANoe and CANalyzer
  • Discovers, analyzes, and resolves software or application problems.
  • Works with vendor-specific diagnostic guides, tools and utilities.
  • Records and reports specific technical problems.
  • Knowledge using Object Oriented Design

The location for this position is Mossville, IL

This position will require 10% travel.
