Requirements:
- A valid certification issued by The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology
- A minimum of 12 months of continuous experience within the last 2 years
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
Responsibilities:
- The Temporary/Relief Laboratory Technician will provide dental laboratory services under the direction of the Institution Supervising Dentist (SD) or designee. The Technician is responsible for compliance with all State and Federal infection control guidelines, safety and hazardous material protocols, and institutional security, safety, and tool control procedures. Services must adhere to the scope of practice for a Dental Laboratory Technician and follow Institution/Facility policies and procedures. The duties of the Dental Technician will include, but are not limited to, the following requirements: Implement and follow tool control and safety procedures daily.
- Maintain accountability for dental instruments, lab equipment, tools, sharps, and other items that pose a security threat.
- Construct and repair dental prosthetic devices as prescribed by a dentist, including full and partial dentures, acrylic partials, cast metal frameworks, night guards, obturators, occlusal stints, reline and rebase dentures, repair dentures, construct bite blocks, and adjust dentures.
- Interpret prosthetic dental laboratory prescriptions.
- Track, monitor, receive, and ship prosthetic cases within the institutions.
- Procure, maintain, inventory, and secure dental laboratory supplies.
- Ensure safe usage and storage of all hazardous materials in the lab.
- Utilize methods, processes, materials, tools, and equipment in making dental prostheses.
- Maintain skill and accuracy in crafting all types of dental prostheses.
- Follow oral and written directions.
- Maintain effective working relationships with healthcare professionals and staff.
- Respond to phone calls and emails from dentists and dental staff.
- Provide status updates on prosthetic appliances as requested.
- Report monthly production data on prosthetics, including the number of cases received, completed, and in progress.
