Delivers configurable, scalable, and adaptable cybersecurity solutions to meet the evolving needs of the warfighting customer. This program supports a range of key roles, including specialists in information security, cyber engineering, penetration testing, and Navy validation, all working together to enhance the security and resilience of naval systems and installations.

About The Role

Peraton is seeking qualified individuals to join our team to provide engineering support for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. This includes conducting Agile software engineering in a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) environment, performing Cloud architectural design, operation, and administration functions, and cyber security and Risk Management Framework (RMF) support. Also included are rapid design, development, test, deployment, maintenance and operation of specific software and hardware capabilities to meet current Cyber Defensive needs. 

This is an on-site position at Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, VA. Mon-Fri day hours

As our Cybersecurity Engineer - Lab Lead you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain and expand lab environments, including networked computers
  • Troubleshoot machines, ensuring consistent uptime and availability for testing and development.
  • Maintain organization of lab spaces
  • Be responsible for 7+ boundaries including obtaining and maintaining the ATOs (Authority to Operate) through close coordination with the A&A team.
  • Act as the onsite point of contact for lab operations
  • Support Cybersecurity tasks such as patching, scanning and STIGing.
  • Provides Lab usage coordination, provisioning of lab resources (Requirements gathering, maintain VMs, servers/workstations, networks, storage and administering system upgrades/downgrades, etc.) and develop and enforce LAB SOPs.
  • Provide hardware engineering expertise to analyze complex hardware systems, hardware design, architecture, network design and other technical hardware issues.
  • Perform acceptance testing on equipment. Provide hardware maintenance support, both preventative and remedial.  
  • Prepares specifications for hardware by analyzing documented and derived system requirements. Conduct site surveys. Organize and direct hardware installations.
  • Configure (and document configuration of) computers, networking devices and various peripheral equipment. Prepare site installation and test reports.
  • Ensure that problems have been properly identified and solutions will satisfy the user’s requirements.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations concerning existing and emerging hardware technologies.
  • Mentor the technical skills of developmental team members.
  • Leverage Sprint Planning and Sprints.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Minimum certification as 541 at the Basic level per DOD 8140.01, or successor IAT Level II Certification 
  • Understand Agile methodologies such as understanding the team's capacity, the level of effort for each ticket/story created in the two week sprint, daily scrums
  • VMware/Hypervisor knowledge- how to create, maintain, patch, and upgrade
  • ESXI hosts- create, maintain, patch, upgrade
  • Familiarity with NSX-virtual networking
  • Server 2016/2012 knowledge
  • ACAS scanning
  • Applying patches
  • How to read and apply STIGS
  • Familiar with the ATO process
  • Leadership/Communication skills
  • Minimum of an IAT L II certification (ie Sec+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP, etc.) prior to start. 
  • Ability to travel up 25%
  • Active Secret clearance or above to start with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
  • Valid/current Passport or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Details

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
