Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical **Cost Accountant for an interim, part-time role** to join our finance team. This position will play a critical role in inventory reconciliation, physical inventory oversight, and gross margin analysis, supporting our operations and executive leadership with accurate cost data and financial insights. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing or inventory-based environments, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. **Inventory Reconciliation:** + Reconcileinventory sub-ledger to general ledger monthly. + Investigateand resolve inventory discrepancies, adjustments, and variances. + Monitorinventory transactions and ensure accuracy in perpetual inventory systems. **Physical Inventory Management:** + Planand execute physical inventory counts and cycle counts. + Coordinatewith operations and warehouse staff to ensure accurate count procedures. + Analyzeand report on inventory shrinkage, overages, and operationalinefficiencies. **Gross Margin Analysis:** + Analyzecost of goods sold (COGS) and assess gross margin trends. + Supportpricing decisions with cost analysis and margin simulations. + Assistwith month-end and year-end close processes related to COGS and inventory. **Cost Accounting Functions:** + Maintainstandard cost system; update standards based on new BOMs, labor rates, andoverhead allocations. + Conductvariance analysis (purchase price, labor, overhead) and report findings. + Partnerwith operations to identify cost reduction opportunities. **Reporting & Compliance:** + Prepareinternal financial and operational reports. + Assistwith audits and ensure compliance with company policies and accountingstandards. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CMA preferred). 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Strong understanding of inventory control, cost of goods sold, and standard costing systems. Hands-on experience with physical inventory counts and reconciliation processes. Proficient in ERP/accounting software (e. . , SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar). Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
