Job Description

The Coordinator of Graduate and International Student Engagement and Development is a pivotal leadership position at The University of New Haven's Office of Graduate and International Student Life, dedicated to significantly enhancing the engagement and student leadership development with graduate and international students.

This role is responsible for social, cultural, community service, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The coordinator is tasked with the design and execution of advanced training programs, innovative recruiting strategies, and comprehensive developmental opportunities specifically crafted for the target student populations. Collaborative efforts with campus partners such as The Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation, The Myatt Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Residential Life, Marketing, Athletics, ChargerRec and the Dean of Students Office are crucial. Additionally, this role involves the supervision of Graduate Assistants responsible for engagement within the Graduate & International Student Life Office, ensuring that all programming and student leadership training initiatives align with university goals and contribute to a vibrant campus community.

You will:

• Oversee student engagement and programming initiatives for graduate and international students.
• Coordinate, plan and oversee community service, DEI and cultural programs and initiatives.
• Oversee marketing efforts to enhance student participation and engagement across programs.
• Assist with the planning and execution of new graduate and international student orientations in August & January.
• Oversee the recruitment, selection and training of campus connectors, orientation volunteers, and graduate student workers for OGISL.
• Supervise and evaluate graduate assistants employed at OGISL.
• Develop and implement programs and initiatives to assist Graduate and Hybrid RSO's (Recognized Student Organizations) executive boards in attaining their goals and achievements.
• Assist RSO's in their executive board transition periods in order to modify and maintain goals and objectives.
• Oversee career growth and learning opportunities, including leadership programs and skills workshops, for student workers as well as students in leaderships positions.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and help student workers and leaders set and achieve professional goals.
• Serve as a mentor offering guidance, support, and networking opportunities to help student workers and leaders succeed professionally.
• Collaborate with university departments to align student roles with campus events and ensure coordinated effort during large-scale activities.
• Liaise with the business office to process purchase requisitions, check requests, contracts, purchase justifications, invoices and credit card requests.
• Reserve spaces and resources on EMS as well as creating diagrams on Social Tables.
• Coordinate chaperones for OGISL events and programs as well as Graduate and International student organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

You need:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience developing and implementing student engagement programs including virtual programming.
• Proficient with all. Microsoft Office Programs especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
• Previous experience with cultural and diversity programming. Specifically, but not limited to, experience collaborating with students from Southeast Asia and African countries.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in higher education or related field preferred.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and iMovie are a plus.
• Some management or previous supervisory experience.
