POSITION SUMMARY
As a key member of our Payment Resolution team at a Patient Business Services (PBS) center, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring coding accuracy and resolving post-billed denials, including coding-related issues. Collaborating with colleagues, you'll identify root causes of denials and utilize your coding knowledge to appeal them effectively through various levels. Reporting to the Supervisor Clinical/Coding Payment Resolution, you'll also contribute to promoting coding best practices within the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply your expertise in ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-10-PCS codes, and CPT-4 procedural codes to resolve denials for outpatient and inpatient claims.
- Analyze data and collaborate with team members to review findings and identify resolutions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, supporting your growth within the Payment Resolution Specialist role.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Clinical/Coding Payment Resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience in a healthcare financial services setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Coding certification (RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS) required, with at least one (1) year of physician/professional or two (2) years of hospital coding experience.
- Proficiency in National Correct Coding Initiative edits, coverage determinations, and outpatient coding guidelines.
- Strong understanding of compliant healthcare billing/collections principles.
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and patient health records.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
