About This Position

Career-Track Assistant/Associate Professor in Animal Wellbeing and Public Policy

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications for a career-track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor in the areas of animal wellbeing, public policy and regulation on the care and use of animals. Position is contingent upon available funding.

Qualifications

  • D.V.M. or equivalent veterinary degree.
  • Eligibility to take the board exam or board certification by the American College of Animal Welfare is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the field of animal welfare/public policy and/or animal research compliance.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Teaching in the professional veterinary curriculum, including courses in animal welfare and public policy.
  • Development of elective courses for veterinary students.
  • Participation in college extension and outreach programs.
  • Consultation with university animal facilities, facility veterinarians, and CVM clinicians on policy and regulation on the care and use of animals.
  • Establishment of an American College of Animal Welfare residency training program.


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research programs aligned with their area of expertise. Preference will be given to individuals with a demonstrated interest in pursuing interdisciplinary collaborations within the framework of animal wellbeing and public policy, as well as contribution to the design of animal studies. Collaborative research opportunities are available within the College of Veterinary Medicine and across the Oklahoma State University system.
