Certified Medical Coder

  Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receiving and reviewing patients’ claims and documents for verification and accuracy.
• Review pending claims for coding accuracy and making necessary corrections before submission.
• Make sure that codes are sequenced according to government and insurance regulations.
• Reviewing in-patient records and coding consultations and surgical procedures.
• Research and analyze data needs for reimbursement.
• Analyze medical records and claims to identify documentation deficiencies.
• Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results.
• Researching rejected claims and making appropriate corrections.

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of Proven work experience as a Medical Coder or similar role
• Valid CPC certification through AAPC

• Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information
• Knowledge of data entry and transcription
• Experience working with coding software
• High school diploma or GED required
