Job Description

Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: New York, NY 10025

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Must be able to work one late night until 8:00 PM)

Pay Rate: $20 per hour (W2)

Minimum Requirements:

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
Experience with EPIC, ENT, front desk, and prior authorizations
BLS Certification – Required (AHA Issuing Authority)
Certified Medical Assistant preferred (NHA Certification)

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care Duties:

  • Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and assist with medical procedures.

  • Check schedules, organize patient flow, and accompany patients to exam rooms.

  • Assist patients with mobility, dressing, and collecting specimens for testing.

  • Take vital signs and provide patient instructions as per physician’s direction.

  • Respond to patient calls and provide necessary information.

Administrative Duties:

  • Send and receive medical records, lab reports, and referrals.

  • Complete forms, requisitions, and manage patient charts manually or via EMR.

  • Enter orders into EMR and prepare prescription refill requests for physician approval.

  • Schedule surgeries/procedures and coordinate pre-admissions and consent forms.

  • Verify and update patient insurance information and handle pre-certifications.

Medical Office & Compliance Duties:

  • Ensure examination rooms and instruments are properly sterilized.

  • Maintain logs for refrigeration of medications, sterilization, crash cart, and point-of-care testing.

  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies, disposing of expired items per policy.

  • Follow personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols and comply with infection control procedures.

  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment per legal and institutional regulations.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (basic level required)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and telephone etiquette skills.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and EMR systems (preferred but not required).

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment.

Education & Certifications:

High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course
Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution
BLS Certification – Required (AHA Issuing Authority)
Certified Medical Assistant (NHA) – Preferred
