Primary Function:
Provide high-quality academic, career, and success coaching to students; comprehensively monitor students’ academic success and key moments of transition (enrollment process, first weeks of college, mid-terms, major declaration, and beyond the degree); support students facing academic difficulties through regular coaching, connecting to resources, and developing an academic plan; assist students who encounter barriers to success; provide guidance, consultation and expertise related to career readiness and related technologies; promote equity and access by connecting students to relevant resources; assist students in designing plans for a cohesive collegiate experience and for their summers and first destinations; and develop and deliver content to ensure a campus-wide culture of student success and career readiness. Lead or collaborate on other projects as assigned.
This position works with considerable independence and self-direction. Only the general direction and scope of the work to be accomplished are discussed with the supervisor. The staff member is expected to independently carry out position duties and understand what is expected and how to do it.
Position Appointment Details:
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide success and career coaching to students through academic support, career readiness education, development of goals and strategies, and awareness of university resources, policies, and processes
Proactively support students facing academic challenges through regular coaching meetings, developing a plan, connecting to campus resources, and liaising with faculty partners.
Coach students on exploring the relationship between major, academic path, and career or graduate school.
Communicate with and support the assigned cohort of incoming students to assist in their entry and transition to the college and throughout each semester; communicate with and support the assigned cohort of returning students to support their academic success and career exploration
Support students in holistic exploration of career and vocation through finding summer opportunities, connecting with alumni, accessing resources, developing materials, exploring career paths and/or graduate school opportunities, and securing post-graduation opportunities
Participate in ongoing professional development regarding student development, coaching, career readiness, and other professional topics
Collaborate with team members on other program areas as assigned
Judgment and discretion as to the use of established policies are required to perform the essential duties of this position.
Monitors expenditures against budget; prepares budget data for review/approval by supervisor/department head.

Education:
Master’s degree in a relevant field (including student affairs, higher education, counseling, or a related discipline).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years experience working with undergraduate students, either in a teaching, coaching, counseling, or related capacity with exposure to employment and graduate/professional school issues.
Experience working with a diverse population and demonstrating inclusive behavior. Candidates should note in their applications experience working with any of the following groups: first-generation students, BIPOC students, historically underrepresented groups, or student-athletes.
Ability to relate to and motivate a diverse range of undergraduate students
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work within a diverse set of technology platforms including student success CRM and career readiness technologies
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks/activities with demanding timelines and transition quickly between them.
Proficient in MS Office Programs and Google Suite, as well as remote work tools such as Zoom.
