The Office of the Treasurer & CFO is responsible for treasury and financial operations, administrative and customer services, member insurance, and ACS Publications business support. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of the Society’s Investment Program; securing external financing for capital expansion and working capital requirements; risk management and the maintenance of the Society’s business insurance program; foreign exchange management; budgeting and fiscal control for Washington Operations (including ACS Publications); management and operations of the ACS Washington facilities; centralized support services for all Washington staff; and directing the operations of a customer service unit responsible for consolidating service for Society programs, products and services. In addition, the office provides management oversight for the Member Insurance Program.
Publications Business Support (PBS) is responsible for all general ledger functions related to ACS Publications, including month end and year end close, budgeting, forecasting, and yearly financial audits. Publications Business Support provides financial reports, analyses and support to all Publications departments and programs, and is also responsible for reconciling bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts. Publications Business Support is responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ACS Policies.
Editorial Business Support (EBS) supports the business and financial operation of approximately 830 ACS Editorial Offices by reviewing and processing expense requests, closely working with the Accounts Payable department to resolve any payment issues; validating quarterly Associate Editor honoraria payments and ensuring payments are sent accurately and in a timely manner; setting up and decommissioning Associate Editors; generating and distributing yearly renewal agreements for ACS Editors; and assisting with the preparation of annual budgets.
Position Summary
The Entry Level Budget Analyst is responsible for preparing month-end journal entries, processing of certain payments and budgeting of certain accounts. They will also be responsible for identifying the source of various payments and collaborating with other departments to automate the PUBS to AP payment request process. In addition, the Budget Analyst will assist with supporting the business operations of the ACS Editorial Offices.
Work Design :
This position works under general supervision of the PBS Senior Manager and EBS Manager. Some work assignments may come from the Senior Director. This position acts as a liaison between Publications Business Support and the Publications Division and supports staff with all financial transactions. Work is reviewed in-progress and after completion. The ability to analyze and communicate data accurately, present well-supported findings and formulate actionable recommendations is required, as is following policies, practices and procedures to resolve standard problems and seeking guidance related to unusual problems. Work is deadline oriented and requires follow up with ACS Publications, General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Global Editorial Services and Financial Planning & Analysis staff.
Position Accountabilities
Thi s position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
