Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a Contract-to-Permanent basis in San Diego, California. This role involves managing a variety of financial tasks to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with organizational and diocesan standards. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in bookkeeping and a detail-oriented approach to support the financial operations of a faith-based organization. Responsibilities: - Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness. - Manage payroll processing to ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule. - Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records. - Maintain organized financial documentation and files for easy access and compliance. - Track donations and prepare acknowledgment letters for contributors. - Reconcile online giving platforms, such as Vanco and PayPal, to ensure accurate reporting. - Prepare and submit financial reports to the Diocese on a regular basis. - Assist with year-end closing activities, including journal entries and financial reconciliations. - Maintain financial systems, including QuickBooks, and ensure data integrity. - Provide light HR support, such as file maintenance and benefits tracking, as needed. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a nonprofit or church setting. - Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel for financial management and reporting. - Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. - Experience with account and bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy. - Familiarity with online giving platforms such as Vanco or PayPal is highly desirable. - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing financial records. - Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality. - Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
