Position: Bilingual Spanish Algebra I Tutor

About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person Algebra I tutor to provide academic support to 9th and 10th-grade students at East Williamsburg Scholars Academy. The tutor must be Spanish-speaking and will push into classrooms to assist teachers, reinforce key mathematical concepts, and help students build their confidence in Algebra I.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide small-group and one-on-one support in Algebra I to help students build strong foundational skills.
• Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom instruction and student needs.
• Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and ensure student engagement.
• Track student progress and provide feedback to teachers and school staff.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support Spanish-speaking students by breaking down complex topics in both English and Spanish.

Schedule:

• Days: Tuesday – Thursday
• Time: 8:15 AM – 12:15 PM
• Duration: March 11, 2025 – May 28, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Dates Off:
  • ​​​​​April 14–18 (Spring Recess)

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching Algebra I.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of high school-level Algebra I concepts.
• ​​​​​​​ Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish , with the ability to provide academic support in both languages.
• Adaptability: Ability to modify instruction based on student needs and classroom dynamics.
• Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
• Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
