Job Description

We are currently hiring for a combined role of Assembly Technician III and Solder Assembler III for a privately held company specializing in advanced electro-mechanical assemblies.

Job Summary

This dual-role position involves assembling, soldering, testing, and inspecting complex electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical components and medical devices. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in soldering and assembly processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, including IPC-A-610 and cGMP. Responsibilities include building, troubleshooting, and maintaining precision assemblies, as well as collaborating with teams for process improvements and training.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Soldering Tasks:

  • Assemble complex subassemblies and final products using engineering drawings and written specifications.
  • Perform surface mount technology (SMT), through-hole soldering, and fine-pitch soldering.
  • Work with precision tools, including calipers, micrometers, and multimeters, for assembling and calibrating products.
  • Integrate subassemblies, electrical panels, chassis, and connecting cables.

Testing & Inspection:

  • Conduct functionality tests, electrical safety tests, and final calibration of assemblies.
  • Inspect assemblies for compliance with quality standards using magnification and visual inspection methods.
  • Document and resolve non-conformances, ensuring traceability of materials.

Documentation & Process Improvement:

  • Complete and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including work orders and Device History Records.
  • Provide feedback for process enhancements and collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve quality issues.

Team Collaboration & Training:

  • Train junior technicians on soldering and assembly techniques.
  • Share expertise and participate in Scaled Product Launch™ teams.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certifications in IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 are highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, soldering, and testing.
  • Previous experience in medical device manufacturing is preferred.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in soldering SMT, through-hole, and fine-pitch components.
  • Strong ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with ESD practices, epoxy application, and the use of torque tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and cGMP requirements.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, handle small components, and lift up to 30 lbs.

Working Environment

  • Primarily in a precision light-industrial production area, with some time spent in office and warehouse settings.
