Working Conditions

  • This position in located in the Riverpoint Marketplace area of West Sacramento (10 minutes from downtown), near the IKEA. Our building offers a free parking lot to employees and is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops.
  • Overtime may be required during peak times and special projects.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable collection and record-keeping accounting practices

• Knowledge of generating invoices and managing aging reports

• Knowledge of financial audit and/or analyzing and validating project costs

• Knowledge of financial year-end accrual reporting

• Knowledge of state financial accounting system FI$Cal or similar database

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and will be used to screen for the most qualified candidates for the position.

The SOQ must be typed using 12-point Arial font with standard one-inch margins and not exceed two (2) pages. Include your name on the upper right corner. Answer each numbered item separately and indicate the corresponding item number with each response.

1) Please describe your knowledge, skills, and experience using FI$Cal or similar accounting database to perform accounting-based operational duties.

2) This position involves reviewing and validating project costs from various sources to meet strict deadlines. Please provide an example of when information needed to meet a deadline was missing and steps taken to resolve the issue.
